Fehérgyarmat Reformed Church
Some people believe that the Gothic church was originally built by István Báthori Transylvanian voivode. He was the one, who defeated the Turks with Pál Kinizsi in the battle of the Kenyérmező, 1479, and praid spate of treasures from the enemy. The values thus obtained were used to finance the building of the churches in Nyírbátor and Fehérgyarmat. The church was firstly in the service of Catholic church, but the Reformation reached this region, too. The church’s 4-turret, wooden gallery tower is more than 37 m high, which has become a symbol of the city.
