Kisszekeres Reformed Church
Kisszekerest is firstly mentioned in the charters in 1181. No one knows when or why the village was destroyed. His Árpád-era church is known only from writings, which base walls were excavated in 1986. The age if the first church is estimated by the researchers to the turn of 12th and 13th century. Of this site, at the end of the 1400s, the new church was built, which can still be seen. As the village started becoming reformed, a church interior makeover was also started, which took place in the spirit of religious renewal of the Reformation. Flat planked ceiling were put in place of the ogival vault, the counterforts were deconstructed, as well as the arch were did which connected the nave and the sanctuary; some of the windows are walled, the walls were whitewashed to cover up the wall paintings. The Reformation brought the transformation of the life of faith, the liturgy and of the church in Kisszekeres as well. Accordingly, the most important and most decorated objects of the churches became the pulpits; in Kisszekeres, one of the most beautiful pulpit crowns is located in the region.
