Tákosi Reformed Church, the Barefoot Notre Dame
Tákos is one of the tiny villages in the Bereg’s Tiszahát. His widely known monument was built in the highest point of the settlement, which is an outstanding piece of art of the 18th century’s folk architecture. The present church was built in 1766. The church is a timber framed and wattle-and-daubed building; the wooden slats are braided by timber batterns, patched with mud. The painted planked ceiling is a ture piece of folk art; the main jewel of the church is the hexagonal pulpit, also decorated with floral patterns. The Tákos Reformed Church – also called as the “Barefoot Notre Dame” – in his today's state and with the church of Csaroda are outstanding attractions of the Bereg. It can uniquely represent the church architecture of this tiny village.
